Do you make a difference?

We are working with organisations that support communities, tackle climate change and improve people's lives.

As the Dalai Lama said: "If you think you are too small to make a difference, remember what it's like to sleep with a mosquito.”

Making a difference to the environment

One of our clients in Hull, KWL has primary contracts with Hull City Council to provide extensive property services to approximately 25,000 homes and the refurbishment of homes, parks and specialist projects.

In 2020, KWL aligned its Environmental Action Plan to Hull City Council’s Carbon Neutral Strategy, which aims to reduce emissions so that Hull becomes a fully carbon neutral city by 2030.

Classed as a green leader, the primary function of the business is not to reduce the impact on the environment. However, KWL’s environmental group is tasked each year with finding new ways to achieve carbon neutral status and hopes other companies in the sector can do the same.

The environmental group’s activity includes: changing their huge vehicle fleet to electric, reviewing and replacing materials throughout the business, LED lighting, creating a wildlife haven at the Kingswood offices, community tree planting, supporting a community farm and they are also working withThe University of Hull to create an environmentally friendly demonstrator property which could be rolled out across the portfolio.

We are sharing stories about this activity in the media and on social media to help other businesses understand how they too can have a positive impact on the environment.

The team works with people of all ages to help improve employability, learn new skills and to prevent social isolation.

We love Unity in Community, it is such a wonderful charity that really makes a positive difference to people’s lives.

Making a difference to improve people’s lives

The Alcohol and Drug Service is a recovery charity, supporting people across Yorkshire. Delivered in partnership with East Riding Partnership, Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust and Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust.

We have been working with ADS to help change the perception of recovery by telling stories through the people who benefitted from engaging with the service. The message is clear - alcohol and drugs can and do affect anyone.

Here is one of our stories that was used by the Daily Mail. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-6873287/Former-bodybuilder-23-addicted-steroids-THREE-YEARS-begs-kick-habit.html
